How to Properly paint Ceiling Tiles

Painting ceiling tiles is a critical step in restoring the original shine of a room when done properly. Whether your ceiling tiles have become dirty, or you merely want to alter their color, you can paint them on your own.

However, bear in mind that ceiling tiles can be very fragile, so you have to guarantee that you keep your tiles intact during the painting process.

But before painting your ceiling tiles, you will need to prepare the following materials: Latex primer, paint, paint tray, foam roller, bleach, spray bottle, water, rags, and newspaper.

The principal concern in painting ceiling tiles is ensuring that the paint will really stick to the tile. You see, majority of paint is not formulated to stick on to any smooth surface such as glass or tile.

You need a solution called the bonding primer. Bonding primer is designed to stick on very smooth surfaces. As primers are stickier than paint, they are applied before the paint goes on.

With regard to ceiling color, many people use just one color of paint for the entire ceiling. It is also recommended that pale or light color shades of paints be used. Darker colors might be appealing but they can also give a heavy feel to a room.

Now, before actually painting the ceiling tiles first clean them with soap and warm water. Then after rinsing, create a mild bleach solution using bleach and water. Spray a small amount of the solution to the tiles and use a rag to clean them. You have to remove the dirt and grime from the tiles so that the paint will stick better.

Do not forget to first apply the primer to the tiles and you may also need to apply several coats. Let the primer to dry thoroughly before applying the paint. Ensure that the tiles are completely dry before putting them back in place, or they will be deformed when wet.

Also, be consistent in the way you paint. Always brush in one direction only.

Actually, spraying the primer and the paint to the tile would give you the best results. However, as majority of people don't have the suitable spray equipment, only professionals usually do it.

Remember, tile ceiling painting do not have to be a daunting task. If you have no budget for a professional painter, do not worry as you can do it yourself! All you need is to get all the materials you want to use in local stores that offer such materials for a relatively inexpensive cost, follow the tips above and voila! You have a new, amazing look for your room.
